Do You Enjoy SOCCER?

The Falcon Soccer Club wants YOU!

The Falcon Soccer Club of Wheaton was founded as a not-for-profit, private and independent soccer club in January, 1989. It has the express purpose of giving more young people in School District #200 an opportunity to learn the game and to participate in competitive, traveling youth soccer. Today, the Falcon Soccer Club is the largest private and independent soccer club in the Wheaton area. The Falcons, originally founded as a "feeder" club to Wheaton North High School, accept interested and qualified young people as participants from throughout the local communities including Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Warrenville, Winfield, and Carol Stream. The Club fosters family involvement including activities such as an annual picnic, parade participation, and trips to Professional Soccer games.

Programs:
The Club programs are instructionally oriented.

Outdoor Traveling:
The Club fields traveling soccer teams in the NISL and the IWSL, which are selective and geared for the skilled player. Tryouts are held in May or June for various age levels, starting at the Under-9 age level. Candidates from the tryouts are selected and offered opportunities to participate on a Falcon traveling team the following Fall, practices starting in August. Tryout schedules are published in the local press, made available to surrounding park district offices, District #200 schools, and printed in the Wheaton Park District Summer brochure. There is no fee to tryout.

The traveling teams that are developed from tryouts have volunteer coaches and interested parents who are sponsored for Illinois Senior Soccer Association state licensing. These volunteer coaches are paired with highly qualified, paid professional instructors, a concept brought to DuPage County by the Falcon Club. During the outdoor seasons (Fall and Spring) teams practice typically twice per week, once with the professional instructor. Each team plays a 10-week game schedule on Sunday afternoons. Traditionally, half of the games are played in Wheaton and the other half are played at the opposing team's home field. Teams optionally play in regional invitational tournaments. There is a seasonal playing fee.

Indoor Program:
The Club fields indoor soccer teams during the winter. These teams are smaller in numbers of players than the outdoor traveling teams. The teams traditionally play their indoor soccer on the pro-sized artificial turf indoor soccer surface at Glen Ayre Club on North Avenue in Wheaton. There are two sessions of play covering the months of November through March. There is a fee for each session.

Instructional:
The Club conducts instructional programs for non-traveling team young people who are interested in improving their soccer skills. This program is generally for those interested in preparing for traveling team tryouts in May or June. Professional instructors are employed for this program. The majority of trainees tend to be in school grades 1 through 3 and playing on park district recreational soccer teams. There is a fee for this program which includes a special Falcon tee-shirt. The Club works with the Glen Ayre Club to provide summer camp clinics and has included swimming, lunch, and optional tennis.

Officials Development:
The Club seeks qualified adult / high school age people to become officials for the two traveling leagues and the Wheaton Park District. The Club will sponsor, as a registered Falcon official, their successful completion of the required referee licensing exam for certification, and subsequent re-certification as a referee for traveling league competition. The traveling leagues and Wheaton Park District compensate officials for game officiating.

Affiliations:
The Club is an affiliate member of the U.S. Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) and the Illinois Youth Soccer Association (IYSA) through its participation in The Northern Illinois Soccer League (NISL) and in the Illinois Women's Soccer League (IWSL). The Falcon Soccer Club is a charter member of The Wheaton Soccer Association, a coalition of parties interested in promoting soccer in general.
